- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice each bagel in half horizontally. Place cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Lightly brush the cut sides of the bagels with olive oil to prevent sogginess.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each bagel half, going all the way to the edges.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, making sure to cover completely. Add Parmesan if using.
- Sprinkle oregano and garlic powder over the cheese.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly golden around the edges.
- Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving. The cheese will be very hot.
Notes
For crispier bottoms, toast the bagel halves for 2-3 minutes before adding toppings. These can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 4 hours before baking. To freeze: assemble completely, freeze on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to freezer bags. Bake from frozen, adding 2-3 extra minutes to cooking time.
