- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, add the ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer the mixture on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together.
- Serve the beef mixture on toasted hamburger buns. Enjoy warm with your favorite sides.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
